Her family, husband, two daughters and a son, live in the altitude of 2200 metres. Before kiwi farming Laxmi Darlami was small-scale farming vegetables and maize. Her husband is a teacher and his pay check wasn’t enough to feed the whole family as well as they wanted to. This is why Laxmi Darlami attended the training to become a kiwi farmer four years ago. The crops is already, after only three years, giving us a better income than we used to have. And we have only been able to collect some 20–30 kilos. A lot of that I have offered to different people for trying so they would know what a kiwi is and how good it tastes.
